THE EXPERIENCE
“WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR A PROFESSIONAL PHOTO SESSION WHEN I ALREADY HAVE THOUSANDS OF PHOTOGRAPHS ON MY PHONE?”
You probably already have hundreds, maybe thousands, of photographs of the people you love. They’re on your phone, scattered across text messages and buried somewhere in your camera roll. They’re proof that life is happening, but they’re rarely made with the intention of preserving the people, relationships, and season of life you’re actually living. Please keep taking them. The blurry ones, the screenshots, the photographs taken from the passenger seat and the ones you almost deleted. They are part of your family’s history, too.
A photo session gives you the opportunity to stop for a moment and be present with the people who matter to you. Instead of one person always being behind the camera or everyone trying to squeeze into a quick selfie, you get to be in the story together. The time spent is just as important as the images from the shoot. Years from now, I want you to remember more than what you looked like. I want you to remember what it felt like to have this time together.
I create photographs that go beyond documenting what everyone looked like that day. I want to show the connection between you, the personalities in your family and the little things you may not realize you’ll miss until they’re gone.
Your camera roll documents your life as it happens. A photo session gives you the chance to intentionally preserve it.
THE APPROACH
YOU DON’T HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO BE IN FRONT OF A CAMERA
Every shoot begins with getting comfortable. We talk about what you want from the photographs, what matters to you and what you want this particular season of your life to look and feel like. From there, I give you enough direction to keep things moving without turning the session into a series of poses.
I might ask you to walk together, sit somewhere you naturally would, make each other laugh or simply spend time together while I photograph what happens. If there is a portrait I know will be important to you, I’ll guide you through it. When something genuine starts unfolding, I’ll give you the space to stay in it.
I pay attention to the light, your surroundings, the way you interact with each other and the small details that might otherwise be forgotten. My goal isn’t to make every photograph look perfectly posed. It’s to create a collection of images that feels like an honest reflection of who you were, where you were and who you were with.
You don’t have to know how to be a model. You don’t have to spend the session wondering what you’re supposed to do. I’ll guide you when you need me and step back when you don’t.
